Excerpt:
Heather went on and on about this guy she was dating, I was only partially listening as I gazed across the fire when the hairs on the back of my neck began to tickle and stand on end. I watched as he gripped his beer bottle with a strong, sun tanned hand. My eyes followed up his arm and even through the flames I could see strong muscles rippling beneath the thin t-shirt he was wearing. As my eyes continued up, I saw a strong jaw, big smile, deep brown eyes, and short dark brown hair, which looked freshly cut. Not too short though, just enough to put your hands through and tug a little. As I continued in my moment, his head turned and saw me staring. I didn’t mean to stare, but he was just gorgeous. I had to pull my eyes away- how embarrassing. I knew I was blushing and when I got enough nerve to look at him again, he flashed me a strong smile and continued his conversation.
Oh my goodness, I turned to Heather, who was still going on about the guy she was dating. I interrupted her, “Who is that?”
“Who?” She asked.
“That guy… right there, directly across from us,” Heather turned her head to look, “Don’t look,” I said, my heartbeat quickening.
“Well if I don’t look, how will I know which guy we are talking about?” She laughed.
“Fine,” I got all flushed again. “The one, grasping his beer in two hands in the grey stripped t-shirt.”
She looked over at the group of guys and then back to me, “No way… don’t even think about it Sydney. How is it you have a way of always picking out the bad boy in the bunch?”
